Broken Dolls
is unique because in it I encompass the entire process one goes through
from the moment they discover the illness of their young child through
adulthood. I talk about the practical things you can do to make the task
easier, the medical avenues you will take and the emotional highs and
lows that are a part of suffering. At the end of most chapters, I
include tips to help you. I also candidly discuss choosing your doctor,
how the entire family is affected, returning to what I call the "new
normal", school issues, letting go and other essentials. You will also
find a heart warming section where the feelings of individual family
members are expressed. The siblings surprised me with what they had to
say looking back now almost two decades later. This book is not written
to the medical world, nor did I write it on their behalf. This book is
written from the view point of a parent caring for a child with a
chronic illness from day to day.Jennifer Travis Cox

Dr. Tony Evans, Senior Pastor, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship:
This special book written by a very special lady will inform, encourage and support all those who are caring for chronically ill children or knows someone who is. God will use Jennifer's story to help you write your own.
Ruben L. Velez, MD, FACP, President/CEO of Dallas Nephrology Associates:
The book you are about to read describes the personal experiences of a mother taking care of her child with chronic diseases. Her frustrations, her dedication and her experiences are all apparent. But in addition, you witness the learning curve of a mother and family dealing with many obstacles. You get to see the courage of a mother and the courage of a sick child. In particular, it represents the victory of love over any obstacle and the importance of deep faith in dealing with difficult situations.
The personal experiences are described in a simple way, with lessons learned and family values explored. This book could be used as a guide for families and parents taking care of children with chronic illnesses. Although not all the experiences can be applied to all situations, the central message of how love and strong faith can guide families through difficult times is the base of this book.
Having had the honor of directly being involved with this family makes this book very special for me. Watching how such a beautiful family and their relationship grow, in spite of the difficult medical situations they have been faced with, makes these experiences and messages so powerful. I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I have, and you will be able to apply some of its knowledge to your own personal situations.
